Ballistic Sight Technology Improvement Night/Day Gunnery (BSTING)

Sketch of 50 cal. machine gun.

Work on BSTING was done for Elbit.  It was a program to develop a sighting aid for the 50 caliber automatic weapon. JEPSAN Group designed the ballistic simulation software, which was programmed in Mathmatica.  The system's purpose was to provide gunners with aiming and targeting aids (coupling with head up and helmet mounted displays), thus eliminating the need for tracers that reveal position.  We participated in the analysis, design, and implementation of the simulation, meeting a 60 day prototype deadline.  In a second phase, software was converted to C++ and rehosted on a PC test bed.  Test and data acquisition features were added.  JEPSAN Group wrote a special purpose real/time operating system for a 486 CPU to manage the simulator.
